This website is dedicated to PIONEERS's American and British Literature Class.
I will post all of our lesson plans, handouts and links on this website. So...If you forget what we need to do for the week, this is the best place to look! Check back regularly as I will constantly be updating this page with new and helpful information.
A little about me:
My name is Lyndsey Tate and this is my second year helping out at PIONEERS. I am excited to work with all of you this year and hope to make our experience in the classroom fun and enjoyable as well as educational. I was born in Springfield, Illinois, but have spent most of my life in Michigan. I went to public school in East Lansing and then moved over to Michigan State as a college student. In 2005, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and an additional Bachelor of Arts in German. Post graduation, I spent a few years working for a large shipping company in hopes of getting transferred to Europe, but when that did not happen I went back to MSU and obtained my teaching certificate as I had always wanted to teach. I received my certificate in 2010 and have been working for a school district near Brighton, Michigan ever since. I also graduating from MSU with a Masters in Teaching and Curriculum with a focus on Literacy last spring. If you didn't notice, I LOVE to read which is unfortunately becoming a lost art in most schools. :(
I am a member of NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) and attend a yearly conference where among other things, I obtain FREE new and upcoming YA books. This year I hope to be traveling to the conference in November and will hopefully be coming back with another car full of new and exciting books. So...come December, hit me up for new book recommendations as I will have a large list of them.
Besides teaching, I love working out and eating healthy. I have a lot of garden space that I am working on when I have the chance and I love to travel and learn about new cultures. If I had my way, I'd move to Europe in a heartbeat as there is so much to see and do there. OH, I also LOVE Keith Urban, so if you're a fan, we'll hit it off instantly :)
I have been married to my husband, David for five years. We have a two year old daughter named Claire and a son named Benedikt.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you and here's to having a great year!
